Emily Booth-Dornfeld is an attorney with over 20 years of experience serving clients in the financial services industry. She is a New York City native, received her B.A. from Georgetown University in 1996, and earned her J.D. at Penn State Law from which she graduated Valedictorian in 1999. Before joining Everyday Money Management, Emily worked as Counsel in the Washington, D.C. Consumer Financial Services groups at K&L Gates LLP and then Mayer Brown LLP. Her clients included mortgage lenders, banks, title companies, real estate brokerage firms, and other financial services providers. She focused on federal and state regulatory compliance matters with a heavy concentration on consumer financial protection laws and government insured/guaranteed lending. She counseled clients and represented them before government agencies, as well as supervised and mentored associate attorneys.

Emily grew up in a small close-knit family. She assisted in the care of her grandmother and continues to care for her parents. She has volunteered with the Legal Counsel for the Elderly, providing tax-related and estate planning assistance to seniors, as well as with DC Central Kitchen, Cornerstones/Embry Rucker Community Shelter, the Northern Virginia Hebrew Congregation, the Jewish Community Center, and Lucky Dog Animal Rescue. Emily also sits on the Fairfax Advisory Committee of Planning for Senior Life, a membership organization dedicated to working with seniors and their families.

Emily is detail-oriented, meticulously organized, and passionate about helping others to achieve and maintain financial order and peace of mind. Her clients derive from varied backgrounds and include seniors, busy professionals, individuals suffering from mental and/or physical illness, and estates. She routinely works with clients to: establish budgets, track income, expenses and charitable/political contributions, monitor and reconcile accounts, manage and pay bills, sort and organize mail and files, track and submit insurance claims, organize tax documents, and facilitate communication with financial planners, accountants, and estate attorneys. Emily also assists clients with matters related to compensating household employees (e.g., housekeepers and home health aides), making claims on long term care insurance policies, and completing financial tasks associated with major life changes such as the death of a spouse, purchase or sale of a residence, and relocation. She is committed to facilitating her clients’ financial organization and resource management while respecting their autonomy and easing client and family stress too often associated with daily money management.

Emily currently resides in Vienna, Virginia with her husband and their four children, two cats, and a dog.
